Person Interviewed: Brady (CL8) [2006-07-18]

Q1: Where are you from? Australia
Q2: Best and worst thing about OTF? Best thing is the people you meet, the connections you form from all over the world. Travelling to North America recently really proved to me the importance of those connections - I met a bunch of awesome people I had met through 10F. I otherwise wouldn't have had the chance to live in Tom's city and hang with him for four months, go clubbing in Montreal with Chun, be toured around Washington DC by Kim and have burgers and beer with Andrew and Jesse in Vancouver.

The worst thing comes hand in hand with the best thing - 10F is a group of people, and with groups of people always comes instances of disunity, fighting and general catyness. But hey, this isn't really an OTF specific thing. It's kind of human nature.
Q3: Who out of OTF would you elect the leader of your country? Oh my.. Kim. =) The current Prime Minister of Oz (in my opinion) is kind of a conservative monkey-man, goofy looking ass. So Kim would really spruce up the place.
Q4: What is your tagline? Usually whatever is at the top of my head, but lately it's been a quote from Terence (not Octagon), a Roman playright who spoke many immortal words. The ones that resonate with me lately are "I am human, and nothing human is alien to me." It's a scary and sombering thought. It means (for me) that we're all capable of doing whatever anyone else is capable of. Scary, eh?
Q5: Which sci-fi/fantasy movie or show would you want to be in? Hmmn.. I'd like to be in Firefly/Serenty so I could hang out with Captain Tight Pants and the dreamy Doctor. =)
Q6: Are you nostalgic about the "old" OTF? Which parts? OTF is and always has been what you make it. Lots of people look back to the past with fond memories, probably because the reality of the period is blurred by the decaying effects of time, and also because I find we always yearn for that which we cannot have, right? And we can't go back in time (yet) so therefore we yearn for it.
Q7: What change do you feel has been most beneficial for OTF? The automation of systems and dynamic this and that. Makes everything easier to run and manage.
Q8: With the appearance of Man In Hat - aka, Mih - and the disappearance of our famed mystery Fleet Admiral, where do you think Octavius Piraeus - aka, "Octagon" - went? I should point out that Man in Hat does not take kindly to being acronised to 'Mih'. It's very disrespectful. For the remainder of the questions, I have no comment.
Q9: What chat themed room would you add to OTF? I have plans to transform the 'dex into a Battlestar Galactica themed roller disco. Cinna will be in charge of the music and Hong has already approved my plans. =) The dress code will be short shorts.
Q10: If you had IAIN-like Powers in OTF... what precisely would you do? Ascend.
Q11: Why do you think OTF has lasted so long? The people that work to make it stay together. I can't even fathom the thousands of people hours that have gone into keeping this rickety old barge on course.
Q12: Which smiley should The Powers That Be include next in the chatrooms? A dead clown smiley.
Q13: Who IS/are "The Powers That Be"? The charmed ones and the retired league of Octagon's, aka Ball of Cats and randomly appointed (secret) members of the front organisation - the Executive Council.
Q14: What about OTF has kept you returning? The people. And Vic.
Q15: Where were you nine years ago, and what were you doing? Let's see.. in 1996 I was in primary school and was like, 12.
Q16: Has Jon ever "Happened" to you? Various times. I was a little dissapointed.
Q17: What memories from the last two years stick out most in your mind? The last two years have been a great journey for me. Being appointed as ST SC, forming the OZD with Kim and the many adventures that have come from that. Too many good memories to recall.
Q18: Who's your partner in crime from these last two years in the chats? My partners in crime change constantly. Man in Hat has been my most avid supporter.
Q19: What crimes have you committed with this partner in crime? Subversion of linear narratives generally.
Q20: What do you think the Senators really do? Build statues in their own images, and force the CCCers to pay taxes. They are politicians afterall.. And I've heard they haven't been feeding the Rancor.
Q21: If OTF was a real place, what would your quarters look like? They'd be sparse, but tasteful. The lighting would be amazing. And there would be bean bags.
Q22: What holodeck program would you make for yourself? A beach program, designed identical to the beaches at home. My favourite place to clear my head.
Q23: If you could choose your own clearance level, which would you want - and why? CLX, because it's so mysterious..
Q24: What sci-fi/fantasy character do you like the most? I always really liked Jadzia Dax from DS9, and Janeway from Voyager. But outside of Star Trek, I'm big keen on Firefly/Serenity, and you can't go past Jayne and the Doctor.
Q25: And which character don't you like? I really dislike Neelix.
Q26: If you were in charge of OTF for one day, what would you do? Sleep.
Q27: Who do you know best from OTF? Tom, because he's the person from OTF that I've spent the most time with in 'reality'. I think until you spend time with someone off the internet, you can't really know them.
Q28: Have you met any OTF Members in real life? If so, what was it like? It was great! Luckily all the people I've met are fun and cool. Anya, Norb, Bubbles, Sean, Adrian, Tom, Chun, Kim, Andrew and Jesse.
Q29: Of every OTF member you haven't met, who would you most like to meet in real life? Man in Hat. =)
Q30: If you ever met Iain in real life, what would you do? Run.
Q31: Whatever happened to the Axis of Anti-Iain? Oh it's still going, that's for sure. Until the day I die. Or Man in Hat loses his hat. Same thing really.
Q32: What's your favourite part of the Blue Report? When they're published.
Q33: Will people ever stop blaming Hobbie? No, that would cause the universe to collapse in on itself.
Q34: Who springs to mind when you hear: "That Man"? Man in Hat! =d
Q35: Is there a sci-fi/fantasy character that reminds you of yourself? Who, and why? Oh yes, Aragorn. Because sometimes I have a beard, and sometimes I don't.
Q36: What's your take on all the imaginary couples (or triplets) popping up in the forums? I have no idea what this means. Who did I hire to write these stupid questions?
Q37: Man In Hat is angry of how Vic Fontaine is treated at OTF. Do you agree? Absolutely, I couldn't agree more unless I WAS MAN IN HAT HIMSELF. *blinks* Next time you're in TF, please say hello to Vic and buy him a drink.
Q38: What is your favorite OTF activity? DELETing people.
Q39: If Iain goes suddenly quiet in OTF, how much do you panic? Who is this Iain woman?
Q40: How do you try to explain OTF to outsiders? With a great deal of "Well, it's.. y'know, just like this... thing where, y'know and like..." and then they walk away and stop asking me questions.
Q41: If everyone in OTF were to fight in "The Ultimate Showdown of OTF Destiny", who would win? Man in Hat, of course. He has cronies now, y'know. His recent publications in the Blue Report have brought him infamy.
Q42: What are your nicknames at OTF (aside from your handle)? Well Brady is my real name which I use now, but people still call me by my old handle (Lucas) and use old nicknames. I don't have any recent nicknames. =( People stop giving them to you after a while I suppose. Some people call me B. One of my old nicknames is Veggie (it's a Logistics/Jayne thing..).
Q43: Did you really think that there wouldn't be a question about Naberrie / eirrebaN?
Q44: Naberrie: a moderating influence on Iain, or an inspiration to and encourager for him?
Q45: Who's your "favorite goober"? (We know, we know - Amanda said we had to add this one.) I need to get some new questions made up really quick. =d
Q46: "I don't mind yearbook questions, but this here question is Iain-like!" ?
Q47: General comments?
